As a member of the healthcare team, the Business Clerk provides clerical, administrative & business support to patients, families and those providing service and/or care among the four fracture clinics. Functions according the job description for Business Clerks. The Business Clerk is directly accountable to the Clinical Manager of the fracture clinics.
- Graduate of community college secretarial/medical office administration program or 2-3 years of recent relevant medical
office experience
- Medical Terminology Certificate 1 and 2 or demonstrated knowledge equivalent to the Medical Terminology Certificate 1
and 2
- Demonstrated proficiency in keyboarding and typing skills (minimum 40 wpm)
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill in Meditech Patient Registration and Community Wide Scheduling
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill in using computers (MS Windows, Outlook, Word)
- Mathematical skills related to payroll, budget and statistical documents will be tested
- Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, public relations and problem-solving skills
- Ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly
- Ability to deal with various hospital departments effectively and collaboratively
- Understanding of privacy and confidentiality policies
- Ability to sit for long periods, repetitive reaching, repetitive bending
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Critical thinking skills with the ability to work independently
- Minimum 1 year previous booking experience preferred
- Medical Terminology, computer and typing skills will be tested
