The Department of Community Health Sciences in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for two (2) Research Assistant(s). This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 6 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
The British Columbia (BC) Farmers' Market Nutrition Coupon Program (FMNCP) is a healthy eating initiative funded by the BC Ministry of Health. The program provides low-income adults with $27/week in coupons to purchase healthy foods at farmers' markets, and supportive nutrition skill-building activities. This pragmatic randomized controlled trial will examine the impact of the FMNCP on the diet quality, food insecurity and other health-related outcomes of parent-child dyads with low incomes.
Reporting to the Principal Investigator.
Recurring Part-time employees are hourly employees engaged to perform work on an irregular schedule.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Assist Research Coordinator with obtaining ethics, operational and/or administrative approval
- Guide participants in the use of database management programs for completing surveys and dietary recalls
- Fulfill administrative tasks, including contacting participants to complete surveys in a timely manner, assisting in preparing study materials, manage study phone line and study email
- Able to occasionally work evenings and weekends to manage study phone line
- Conduct data entry, data verification and data cleaning
- Responsible for occasional data collection
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or similar in a health-related field and/or experience in health-related research
- Master's degree is an asset
- Qualification as a Registered Dietitian is an asset
- Knowledge of public health nutrition
- Demonstrated ability in professional written and verbal communication
- Ability to conduct research and administrative activities within a team environment
- Ability to provide support to members of the research team
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience in database management programs (e.g. REDCap, ASA24-2018)
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, including the ability to work independently, able to multitask, and has high attention to detail
