The Werklund School of Education invites applications for a Research Assistant. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 6 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
The Werklund School of Education invites applications for a Research Assistant for 6-month appointment for the Supporting Psychological Health in First Responders (SPHIFR) study. The role reports directly to Dr. Kelly Schwartz, Principal Investigator.
This position is part of the AUPE Collective Bargaining Unit. This is a fixed term position (6 months), research funded, Recurring Part-Time (13 hours per week) position, based in Calgary. Due to the nature of the work, this position may experience occasional irregular workweeks, which will require the ability to be flexible in order to accommodate the research, special events, interviews, presentations, and any travel that could occur outside the regular workday.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
Administrative Activities:
- Administrative support duties as assigned or required
- Occupational Health & Safety: Understands and complies with the requirements of the University's Occupational Health and Safety Policy
- Give leadership to knowledge translation activities
- Manage e-mail addresses and correspondence related to research project
- Management of incentives program for study participants
- Coordination of Teams platform, including files, tasks, researcher chats, and calendar
- Administration of Project accounting, including requisitions and invoicing
- Coordination of research meetings and interviews, including note taking
- Build collaborative relationships with stakeholders
Research Activities :
- Responsible for assisting in the design and writing of quarterly reports to stakeholders, including partner organizations and SPHIFR
- Participate in research design and delivery of study waves to stakeholders
- Collection of data and synthesis of information into manuscripts and documents, supporting the publication of findings in well-regarded journals
- Work with external research partners in the refining of results, models, frameworks, and initiatives informed by the research
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Minimum of a Master's degree in relevant research area (clinical psychology, counselling psychology, educational psychology) with experience working with clinical populations
- Possess excellent communication skills with the proven ability to work cooperatively in a research team is required
- Record of scholarly activity, writing, and contributions to research is required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
- Proven ability to work independently is required
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills is required
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and effectively work with stakeholders, dealing with tact and diplomacy in all situations is required
- High level of understanding and capability in research documentation and administrative practices is required
- Ability to retain knowledge of a variety of informational resources and requirements is required
- Intermediate to expert user of the technical systems, including Microsoft Office Suite, PeopleSoft, and web navigation is required
- Understanding of University environment would be an asset
