Located in Vancouver, Canada, this role supports the North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant. As a Cost Controls Coordinator with Edmonton Industrial Management, you'll play a key role in supporting our project team by:
Responsibilities
- Participates in a multi-disciplinary project controls team (scheduling and planning, estimating, cost-control, subcontract, and document control).
- Prepares and presents analysis of the trending schedule, progress, and cost information to project personnel.
- Gathers information for the project team that helps define scope of work, need for changes to budget and schedule, and identification of variance from the original plan.
- Provides input towards project monthly cost and schedule reports and other key management reports.
- Participates in data collection for the project weekly and monthly progress reports.
- Understands which system contains the data required to produce productivity rates or own forces work (OFW), Labor Cost Reports (LCRs), and ability to interpret cost reports.
- Adheres to PCL's project control processes and procedures.
- Ensures alignment of project control systems i.e. schedule, progress, and costing.
- Ensures accurate costing for labour, materials, equipment, and staff.
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with key partners and decision makers.
- Participates in client engineering meetings.
- Demonstrates problem-solving abilities and professional judgment.
Qualifications
- Construction trade certification with equivalent experience, or post-secondary diploma or degree in construction management or engineering preferred.
- Relevant designation is an asset.
- 0-2 years of experience in construction or related field.
- Exposure to project controls is an asset.
- An understanding of scheduling, progress reporting, and forecasting resource concepts.
- Knowledge of engineering and construction management principles and practices.
- Knowledge of estimating methods and practices.
- An understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and internal operational systems.
- Ability to learn in-house software applications quickly.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style across multiple departments and functions, including clients, supervision, and craft workers.
- Strong analysis and problem-solving abilities.
- Organizational skills, high level of detail orientation, and ability to multitask and prioritize conflicting deadlines.
- Ability to travel to project sites for extended periods of time.
- Excellent eye for detail.
The salary for the role ranges from $65,000 to $85,000, depending on experience.
