Position Overview: The Human Resources Manager will serve as an HR Business Partner to assigned client groups, providing sound guidance and advice to management on Human Resources related matters in accordance with applicable legislations and internal policies and processes. This role involves assisting client groups and the organization in reaching goals, as well as developing and implementing solutions for improvements in various HR areas. This HR Manager supports the human resources activities of our Eastern Canadian operations.
This region includes over 400+ employees at 7 manufacturing plants and offices, primarily in Ontario, and includes both unionized and non-unionized facilities. This is a hybrid position and will be based at our regional office in Gormley (located at 1 Ram Forest Rd). The role involves travel (expected to be 35-40%).
The travel will primarily be to our locations in Ontario with some occasional trips to other Stella-Jones locations in other provinces, including our HQ in Montreal. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports. Key Responsibilities: Participate actively in the development and implementation of solutions for improvements in areas including but not limited to: Talent Acquisition, Onboarding, New Hire Orientation, Benefits, Compensation, Training and Development, and Employee Relations.
Lead Talent Acquisition efforts for assigned client groups, including operational and administrative processes. Identify, recommend, and implement recruitment channels, tools, and resources. Partners with managers in appropriately resolving employee relations issues.
Conducts employee investigations as appropriate. Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance Maintain accurate employee records in the HR Systems as well as in the employees' files. Responsible for providing monthly HR reporting and statistics.
Collaborate in the development, review, and implementation of HR processes to ensure seamless service of HR operational activities and training programs. Assist in the development and maintaining of job descriptions across Canada. Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications: Six or more years of Human Resources work experience required Manufacturing HR experience requiredHR experience in unionized environments required
Experience in a similar multi-site or regional HR role preferred
Bachelor's Degree preferredSHRM-CP (or other related HR certifications) preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong working knowledge of HR principles and practices including labor relations. Experience with MS Office and HRIS systems Understanding of records administration including filing, archiving, and confidential handling. Detail-oriented, accurate, and organized, and can maintain organizational data.
Demonstrated ability to establish and build relationships. Able to handle confidential information responsibly. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written. Able to communicate to people at all levels.
