Overview
We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Accountant I to be a key player in our dynamic Finance team based in our South Edmonton Corporate Head Office.
In this role, you will support efficient financial reporting, ensuring timely and accurate financial data. You'll play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, and consolidation processes while collaborating with the broader finance team to drive accuracy and support strategic decision-making.

- Competitive salary: $60,000 - $66,000 per year based on experience

++Key Responsibilities:++
Month-End \& Financial Close Management:Oversee month-end and quarterly close processes, ensuring all tasks are completed, variance analysis is performed, and sign-off documentation is prepared for financial statements.
Consolidation \& Reporting:Record consolidating journal entries, review supporting working papers, and assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements and related packages.
Forecasting \& Budgeting:Support the quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting processes, including timeline management, data population, and ensuring accuracy in consolidated financial results.
Financial Analysis \& Reporting:Prepare supporting schedules for management discussions and analysis, ensuring financial results are accurate and meet reporting standards.
Project Management \& Stakeholder Collaboration:Manage FTP-related projects, track milestones, and communicate updates to project leads, ensuring timely completion and reporting.
Process Improvement:Continuously assess and recommend improvements for accounting processes, controls, and the efficiency of the FTP team.
Safety \& Compliance:Participate in safety initiatives and year-end tasks, ensuring compliance with audit requirements and improving operational efficiency.
++What does it take to get on track?++
- The successful candidate will possess a post-secondary diploma in Accounting (or equivalent) with 3-5 years of experience.
- Working knowledge of financial statement preparation and reporting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and financial reporting software (FRX, Target, Anaplan, TaxPrep).
- Enrolled in an Accounting designation (CPA) or working towards it.
- Demonstrated professionalism when handling financial information.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail to research and resolve issues.
- Initiative to identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
