We are a leading bulk fuel wholesaler serving communities across Southern Alberta. We're looking for a proactive, knowledgeable, and safety-driven individual to help us maintain and elevate our commitment to safety across our operations.
The Role
As our Safety Coordinator, you will oversee and implement health, safety, and environmental programs across our fuel distribution network. You'll work closely with operations, drivers, and site leaders to ensure compliance, reduce risk, and foster a culture where safety is second nature.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures specific to fuel transportation and handling
- Conduct safety audits, site inspections, and risk assessments across all locations
- Provide safety training and toolbox talks to drivers and operational staff
- Ensure regular safety meetings are done at all locations
- Investigate incidents, near-misses, and ensure corrective actions are implemented
- Maintain safety documentation and compliance with regulatory bodies (e.g., OH\&S, DOT, TDG, NSC, COR)
- Lead internal COR audits and oversee external audits when required
- Support emergency response planning and execution
- Serve as the primary contact for safety-related matters company-wide
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a safety role, preferably in fuel transportation, logistics, or industrial services
- Valid safety certifications (e.g., CRSP, NCSO, CHSC, TDG, WHMIS, First Aid)
- In-depth knowledge of provincial safety legislation (OH\&S), transportation regulations, and environmental compliance
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to influence and train across teams
- Willingness to travel regularly between sites across Alberta and to Yellowknife to work with our affiliated company
