Status: Full-time
Purpose:
This position is primarily responsible for planning and overseeing the implementation of systems and technical services projects as well as providing systems support to production locations within Gay Lea Foods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and respond to equipment and software problems
- Review, design and implement site automation strategy and instrumentation
- Plan and oversee implementation controls and automation scope of projects
- Provide staff training in the use of applications, software, and hardware
- Program PLC and HMI applications for integration and troubleshooting of automated process equipment
- Food Safety \& Quality responsibility as outlined in SOPs \& other training materials provided and accurate record keeping
- Responsible for maintaining software licenses and upgrades to ensure equipment functionality and runtime
- Support electrical documentation review of equipment changes and upgrades
- Perform investigation of manufacturing equipment deviations and anomalies related to automation and software
- Provide technical support to maintenance staff
Qualifications:
- Must have a post-secondary degree or diploma in Science, Engineering Software Programming or related discipline (Systems, Industrial)
- Minimum 3-5 years hands-on experience programming, designing and maintaining industrial control systems in a regulated environment
- Strong knowledge of process control systems, HMI, and automation programming, hardware/software management, and commissioning
- Strong PLC Programming / troubleshooting skills. Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database management software, SQL Server and Web server software
- Experience with variable frequency drives, servo drives and/or stepper system products
- Experience with Aveva and/or Ignition
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including written and verbal
- Must work both on a team and independently
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to successfully execute multiple project responsibilities under tight deadlines
- Weekend and after-hours availability will be required
