Job Title: Service Technician I

Recently, Vanderlande built a large, advanced automated warehouse for one of the world's largest retailers in Canada. You will play a key role in supporting this state-of-the-art facility by collaborating with various teams to ensure efficient, on-time preventive maintenance and quick troubleshooting of issues.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of warehouse operations, is comfortable with high-tech systems and automation, and prioritizes safety and efficiency.

Essential Functions (Job Duties and Responsibilities):
- Support troubleshooting for non-routine problems in the material handling system.
- Resolve complex errors in the Auto Case Picking (ACP) system.
- Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical components such as motors, gearboxes, rollers, bearings, shafts, sprockets.
- Maintain and troubleshoot electrical control components like photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, sensors, solenoids, encoders, VFDs.
- Communicate work performed and system status to relevant parties.
- Interpret engineering drawings related to system layout, location, and operation.
- Perform preventive maintenance (electrical and mechanical).
- Report maintenance activities and system errors.
- Replace machine spare parts as needed.
- Report issues requiring attention.
- Respond to call outs, faults, alarms, and warnings; monitor systems from the Control Room.
- Adhere to Vanderlande policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Required Education and Experience:
- Industrial Electrician Trade Certification (Electrical License) is required.
- Experience supporting automated systems with electro-mechanical skills.
- Electrical fault-finding and rectification, including field device configuration.
- Mechanical fault-finding and rectification skills.
- Experience reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Proficiency with electrical testing instruments.
- Relevant vocational or technical qualifications.

- Warehouse operations experience.
- Conveyor or material handling services experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems (motors, circuits, SICK ATR, Siemens controls).
- Ability to read diagrams, manuals, and specifications.
- Use of hand tools and testing instruments.

Position Details:
Type/Hours: Full-time; 24/7 rotating shifts including days and nights.
Travel: No travel required.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Physical Demands: Regular communication, vision, climbing, reaching, sitting, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Occasionally lifting 50-120 lbs. Physical maneuvering required.
Work Environment: Exposure to loud noise, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic equipment, vibration; use of ear protection recommended.
Other Duties: Duties may change; flexibility required.
Salary Range: CAD$80,000 to CAD$85,000, based on skills and experience. Includes performance bonus.
