Territory Sales Manager -- HVAC Equipment
Victoria, BC
Cameron Lappin of Lock Search Group has partnered with a North American leader within the HVAC segment to find an experienced, Victoria-based Territory Sales Manager for their Vancouver Island zone. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of mechanical systems and a proven track record in sales within the HVAC industry. They should be collaborative, driven, and comfortable working as part of a team with a Customer First approach.
The primary role of the Territory Sales Manager is to target, support, and develop consultative relationships with HVAC contractors and end-user clients by promoting their exclusive equipment manufacturers. The products include Heat Pumps, Roof Top Packages, and VRF Systems. Key responsibilities include sourcing new customers, maintaining existing relationships with industry partners such as contractors, owners, engineers, architects, and developers, and expanding market share in line with company goals.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and maximize project opportunities within the BC market.
- Assist with customer events like open houses, sporting events, and lunches.
- Perform product selections for engineers and design/build contractors.
- Interpret schedules, drawings, and specifications.
- Conduct take-offs, prepare quotations and tenders, and issue submittals.
- Attend manufacturer training and stay current on product developments (some travel involved).
- Stay informed on industry codes, regulations, and market trends.
- Provide timely service to the contractor community.
- Maintain knowledge of competitors' products.
- Visit at least six contractor firms weekly to maintain a strong presence.
- Collaborate across divisions on sales opportunities.
- Manage the entire sales cycle from inquiry to warranty.
- Visit job sites to address on-site challenges.
- Plan and accompany customers on factory visits.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years' experience in HVAC sales, with mechanical equipment knowledge.
- Thorough understanding of mechanical products.
- Post-secondary education preferred but not required with relevant industry experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to interpret construction drawings.
- Positive attitude, reliable, ethical, and a team player.
- Proven success in prospecting and managing key accounts.
- Ability to sell value propositions and total cost of ownership.
- Strong networking and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to support demand and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and a valid driver's license.
