Position: Manager of DesignTerm: ContractHours: Monday to FridayLocation: Toronto, ONWe're looking for a Manager of Design to lead and support a creative team in delivering high-quality, engaging exhibition and gallery experiences. This role oversees day-to-day operations of the design department, including 2D/graphic and 3D designers, and works cross-functionally to bring immersive and accessible experiences to life. Key ResponsibilitiesLead and mentor a multidisciplinary design team, setting goals and ensuring strong collaboration and performance.
Oversee design project schedules, resource allocation, and team workflow to ensure timely, on-budget delivery. Collaborate with leadership and project teams to translate curatorial and interpretive strategies into cohesive visitor experiences. Ensure quality, feasibility, and execution of design from concept through implementation, including technical drawings and production packages.
Manage departmental and project budgets, support installation logistics, and maintain design standards and visual communication tools. Promote accessible, inclusive, and engaging design that aligns with institutional values and audience needs. Ensure brand consistency, especially in donor and sponsor recognition, and maintain safety and accessibility standards.
QualificationsExperience managing design teams within cultural, exhibition, or creative environments. Strong understanding of 2D/3D design tools, exhibition production workflows, and visitor-centered design. Proven project management skills, with the ability to balance creative vision and practical constraints.
