Product Control Team
Intern Resposibilities Projects/ Initiatives Liquidity and Funding Team within PC has established a daily TDS Balance Sheet to provide firm wide analytics, metrics and controls. The balance sheet has been designed in accordance to our financial published statements and provides users lineage between PSGL (General Ledger) and CDM (published financials). Through Power BI, Balance Sheet provides end users multiple visualizations supported by python scripts augmenting PSGL data via published hierarchies/mappings and financial calculations. End users include Senior Managers in Product Control, Segment Finance, Executive stakeholders and the Liquidity/Funding desk in Front Office. Learning Proposition The Intern will integrate within the small initiatives team with the intent to receive hands on experience of product accounting, end to end financial reporting, exposure to projects and small tech tools. Opportunity to learn first hand on daily revenue reporting at TDS while meeting/learning with colleagues across Finance and Front Office. Research, investigation and presentation of trading desks strategies, product valuations and fair value, accounting treatment, revenue recognition, balance sheet geography, and trade lifecycle for derivatives in TD Securities (30%)
- Conduct research, investigations, prepare materials and presentations relating to TD Securities Liquidity/Funding business line. This will include research into internal funding requirements, P\&L Reporting; Net Interest Income (NII); Non-Trading Market Risk (NTMR). Adhoc investigations will provide insight to product valuations and models, fair value, accounting treatment, revenue recognition, balance sheet geography, trade lifecycle and controls and more. The individual will be partnered with a Manager with subject matter expertise in the business line and have the opportunity to build networks across various teams in Finance and Accounting, Trading, Market Risk, Trade Support, and Operations.
Requirement Gathering, Testing, for enhancements. (40%)
- Participate in requirement gathering process to understand and interpret business needs -- agile approach to development. Translate business needs to Python SME on the team, for ongoing development and enhancements.
- Introduction to product accounting and mechanics of the wider firm balance sheet.
- Confirm business requirements through data profiling exercises, ensuring requirements meet expected results prior to development.
- Mitigate risk from change by working closely with team manager, to formulate a thorough test plan and execute the plan. Design enhancements with an audit frame of mind -- transparency to data transformation.
Knowledge Application -- Identifying Value Add propositions/Executing (30%)
- Identify opportunities to establish new analytics/metrics - Create Power BI based visualizations for end users, that will be adopted within a daily or month-end reporting cycle. If capable, own the proposed metric/control end to end, including the Python coding, to be socialized, tested and implemented. Integrate metrics with a vision for hands off approach once live, supported by small tech.

Technical / Soft Skills Requirements
- Keen interest and knowledge of capital markets, financial derivatives, derivative valuations, and accounting practices gained through academic study or practical experience.
- Strong communication (written \& verbal), teamwork, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate with business partners, stakeholders, and colleagues at all levels of the organization.
- Innovative thinking and intellectual curiosity for independent research, investigation and problem solving.
- Interest in new technologies, process optimization and/or programming skillsets such as Python and PowerBI is an asset.
