Your Mission
As a Legal Counsel, you will play a key role in building solid and through legal support to ensure the sustainable growth of Colas Canada Inc. and our network of subsidiaries. You will work with a variety of topics ranging from labour and employment, construction/materials, corporate and commercial transactions, P3, insurance, construction related disputes , and providing general advice to support the decision- making process.
Main Responsibilities
- Legal analysis on different topics as required in order to ascertain strategies and risks ;
- Review Contract and lawsuit management ;
- Legal support to operations (industries and construction activities) ;
- Review and update the templates of commercial agreements with a focus on improvement and ensuring consistency across the country ;
- Review and advise the business regarding negotiation of commercial agreements ;
- Insurance (coverage analysis and portfolio management) ;
- Compliance analysis and implementation ;
- Implementation and oversight of our internal policies, including through trainings ;
- Liaising with and gathering information from different groups and entities for different corporate purposes, including regulatory matters, licenses and real estate related matters ;
- Providing support to Colas Canada's General Counsel and legal team ;
- Role involves clerical and regulatory tasks to ensure proper licenses are in place.
Your profile
- Diploma in law and enabled to exercise law in Ontario or another province (a provincial multiple diploma is an asset). For Quebec candidates, Common Law training is required;
- At least five (5) years of experience in law firm or business;
- Bilingual French/English;
- Experience in legal research and analysis of applicable laws ;
- Experience in transactions and negotiations ;
- Master of Excel software ;
- All candidates for this position must succeed in checking conflicts of interest before taking office ;
- Collaborative approach with administrative and legal services and ability to collaborate ;
- Support and dedication supported for understanding the company ;
- Willingness to evolve with the position, the legal service and the organization ;
- Ability to engage at a detailed level on questions requiring a long -term vision ;
- Ability to find simple and achievable solutions to complex problems ;
- Curiosity and audacity to help and support ;
- Patience and perseverance to overcome complexity.
