Job Description:
Role Summary
The Regional Director, Business Development, Group Retirement Services (GRS) role for western Canada is a key business development \& sales leader role for retirement savings plans coming from our Corporate Accounts distribution channel.
If you thrive in a results-driven, high-performance environment with the leading provider of Defined Contribution Pension Plans in Canada, this is the job for you! You would have responsibility for building out key advisor relationships in British Columbia to attract new clients to Sun Life Financial.
What will you do?
- Create \& maintain outstanding relationships between GRS and the main pension \& group savings advisors in the specified territory;
- Consistently achieve annual new business sales targets, increasing Sun Life's industry-leading market share;
- Leverage your understanding of the DC recordkeeping business to lead all sales opportunities generated via RFPs or direct opportunities;
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop tailored client solutions for each sales opportunity;

- Advisor and Client focus: quickly assess potential needs and translate them into a unique experience;
- Excellent relationship-building skills within the employee benefits advisor community;
- Strong sales skills: negotiating, influencing, and effective communication;
- Ability to work with Finance to develop pricing structures and deliver compelling sales presentations;
- Deep understanding of defined contribution pension plans and group savings products/services;
- Superior problem-solving and analytical skills to anticipate obstacles and generate solutions;
- Entrepreneurial mindset with knowledge of key competitors and strategies;
- Ability to discern key factors influencing buyer decisions;
- Excellent verbal and presentation skills for diverse decision-maker audiences;
- Leadership style that influences and motivates sales teams;
- High self-motivation and accountability for results;
- Willingness to travel for relationship building and sales presentations.
Assets:
- Previous DC sales or client service experience within group savings recordkeeping;
- Existing relationships within the advisor community;
- Financial services professional designation.

This role covers the British Columbia region, based in Vancouver.
