Position Overview
The Cable Assembler will assemble cable harnesses and circuit boards within specified tolerances and timeframes. The role involves operating coding, cutting, and testing equipment, and interpreting blueprints and technical documentation. The position may be located in Hammonds Plains or Halifax Stanfield International Airport, offering exposure to various programs from formboard to on-aircraft assemblies.
What You Will Do
- Manufacture and repair electrical harnesses by soldering, crimping, twisting, encapsulation, and testing, using work instructions, drawings, and technical publications.
- Assemble using production control cards, wire operation sheets, and process specifications.
- Solder to company standards with regular requalification.
- Operate cut \& coding and labeling machines.
- Fabricate cable assemblies and prepare them for storage.
- Use automatic test equipment for acceptance testing of wire assemblies or circuit boards.
- Manufacture/repair circuit boards and wiring with guidance from engineering drawings and manuals.
- Assist in on-the-job training of other cable assemblers.
What You Will Bring
- High School Leaving Certificate or Vocational/Trade School training.
- Training in mechanical/electrical fields and blueprint reading is an asset.
- Four years of experience as a Cable Assembler and completion of all OJT performance objectives.
- Ability to pass and maintain PWGSC and Transport Canada security clearances.
- Commitment to occupational health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Participation in Continuous Improvement, Lean, \& 5S activities.
- Eligibility for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and Secret Level II Security Clearance.
