Responsibilities:
Lead requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders to understand business objectives and document detailed business requirements.
Analyze and document current business processes and workflows, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.
Develop comprehensive business cases outlining costs, benefits, and risks of proposed solutions.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (including IT, operations, and management) to ensure alignment of business and technology solutions.
Create functional specifications and user stories, ensuring they are clear, complete, and feasible for implementation.
Conduct impact analysis for proposed changes and enhancements to existing systems and processes.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior business analysts and team members as needed.
Participate in testing and quality assurance efforts, ensuring solutions meet business requirements and are fit for purpose.
Assist in the development of training materials and conduct training sessions for end users as necessary.
Defines and documents business processes involving current and future states
Acts as a liaison between departmental end-users, technical team, consultants and other governmental organizations in the analysis, design, configuration, testing and maintenance of solutions
Identifies opportunities for improving business processes through the use of technology and/or through business process changes;
Reads and interprets technical literature and translates in terms understandable to the end-users or non-technical staff
Plans, organizes and conducts business process reengineering/improvement projects and/or management reviews of programs
Consolidates information into cohesive and understandable correspondence or other written form for use in management decision-making
Requirements
Skill Requirements/Qualifications:
The Resource must have the following minimum qualifications or experience:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Commerce or an equivalent field
Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience working as a business analyst
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience documenting/conducting process analysis and re-engineering
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience writing requirements, use cases and user stories
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in working on projects in agile environment
Must possess strong political acumen
Must possess strong critical thinking skills
Must possess high level of communications, consulting, and client relationship skills. The Analyst must be able to clearly communicate complex technical and business concepts, both to clients (internal or external) and to team members, and to negotiate change
Must be capable of effectively identifying and framing problems, leading the collection of elements of information, and integrating this information to produce timely and thoughtful decisions
Preferred Qualifications or Experience:
Accreditation from IIBA (International Institute of Business Analysis) is considered an asset
Knowledge of the Business Analysis Book of Knowledge (BABOK) is considered an asset
