Position Details:
The Team Member is an integral part of the Green Team program. The Team Member follows the direction given by Volunteer Services, has the ability to work well in a team environment and feels that they can make a positive contribution to the projects undertaken.
The Urban Garden Art Team will be responsible for the design and creation of art paths/trails that appeal to a variety of abilities.
Position Summary and Scope of Service:
•Reporting to the Manager, Volunteer Services, and consistent with the Mission, Values and Policies of St.Amant
•Hours: This is a full-time, seasonal position requiring 8 hours per day (1 hour of unpaid break time)
•Monday to Friday. Evening and weekend shifts may be required. Actual hours and days will vary depending on operational needs, weather and events
Qualifications:
Urban/Hometown Green Team:
•This program is intended for Manitoba youth, aged 15 to 29 to travel within the City of Winnipeg
Professional:
•Proven reliability and willingness to work hard, possibly on weekends. Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
•Must be willing to work outdoors
Personal:
•Previous customer service experience and supervisor experience specifically dealing with the public
•Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
•Physically able to perform manual labor
•Interest or experience in garden/yard care
•Ability to take initiative and think creatively
•Basic artistic/drawing/design ability
•Interest/experience in Occupational Therapy, Art Therapy or Recreation Therapy
•Able to adapt designs to suit a variety of abilities
•Be familiar with The Accessibility for Manitobans Act
•Strong communication and organizational skills
Duties & Responsibilities:
Under the general direction of the Manager, Volunteer Services or delegate, the incumbent is responsible for assisting in design and creation of art paths/trails and making recommendations for program improvements.
•Knowledge of PHIA in the performance of all duties
•Provide a good customer service experience
•Work as a team member
•Able to ensure that deadlines are met
•Able to work independently or with the team
•Provide attention to detail
•Regular disinfecting of high surface areas and following all COVID-19 protocols
•Able to create designs and stencils for art paths and trails for a variety of abilities
•Demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools
•Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, using sandpaper, removing old paint etc.
•Paint surfaces according to instructions with various tools
•Able to work with individuals with an intellectual and/or physical disability
•Perform other appropriate duties, as may be assigned
