Job Title: Fund Accountant
Job Description
We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Fund Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of fund accounting principles, including pooled fund structures, Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations, prospectus accounting, and overall fund administration. You will be responsible for monitoring NAV and performing position and cash reconciliations for funds and client accounts. This role requires effective communication with key stakeholders such as auditors and legal counsel and involves regulatory filings with authorities like the British Columbia Securities Commission (BCSC) and Ontario Securities Commission (OSC). You will also support the implementation of fund changes across systems, coordinate financial statement preparation, and deliver monthly fund performance reports.
Responsibilities
Monitor Net Asset Value (NAV) and perform position and cash reconciliations for funds and client accounts.
Liaise with auditors and legal counsel to support prospectus filings and documentation.
Perform regulatory filings with the British Columbia Securities Commission (BCSC) and Ontario Securities Commission (OSC).
Support the implementation of fund changes across relevant systems, working with external parties.
Coordinate the preparation of financial statements and support the annual fund audit.
Deliver monthly fund performance reports.
Provide supervision and guidance to team members, facilitating issue resolution and communication.
Handle ad hoc reporting requests while maintaining quality and timeliness of regular responsibilities.
Essential Skills
Post-Secondary Degree in Accounting or Finance.
3+ years of Fund Accounting Experience within the Investment or Banking industry.
Strong Excel Skills (pivot tables, v-lookups, reconciliations).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to be bonded (require criminal/credit checks).
Experience with fund administration, prospectus, fund audit, BCSC, and OSC.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with RBC Custodian or RBC Software Platform.
Supervisor or Management Experience.
Excellent communications in English, both written and verbal.
Critical thinking skills.
Ability to act with urgency and think quickly.
Team player.
Work Environment
The role begins in the office during the training period and then transitions to a hybrid schedule. The work environment is trustworthy, with independent workers and a positive working culture. The office is transit accessible and the team is small and tight-knit, consisting of five people. The dress code is casual. The position requires 40 hours of work weekly, starting at 8 am. There is an opportunity for a long-term succession plan, potentially moving into a management role. The company has a supportive professional education program, including CPA support, and offers benefits such as RRSP contributions, a bonus, a monthly transit allowance, and extended health coverage.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $78000.00/yr.
