Reporting to the Program Manager, you will be scheduled to work directly with residents and in all departments. This includes nursing, support services, administration, and program services. As a valued member of Long-Term Care Services, you will demonstrate a commitment to resident safety by providing quality services in accordance with the organization’s mission and vision. Responsibilities may include resident specific programming, companionship, portering, light resident housekeeping and laundry tasks, meal service, and clerical. This position assumes an active role in the infection prevention and control program and assists with the orientation of new staff as required. RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS Proof of successful completion of an approved Recreation and Leisure Services /Gerontology Diploma or Degree program required with 3 recreation courses completed. Knowledge and demonstrated experience in one-one/group program planning, care planning, resident assessments, implementation and evaluation for geriatric population especially those cognitively impaired. Knowledge of documentation process: ActivityPro, Pointclickcare Plan, implement, evaluate, develop and revise both individual and group activation programs based on assessed needs under the guidance of the Supervisor. Set up and clean activity area as necessary and transport residents to and from programs. Monitor the behavior and condition of residents during programs and report any significant changes to the Supervisor and nursing staff as appropriate. Maintain program and resident records according to department policy. Communicate participation by residents to registered staff.
