Hours of Work 35 hours per week Department Transit Location This position is eligible for a hybrid work model. When attending an event or meeting in person, your primary office location will be based out of 3332 Harvester Road, Burlington ON. Work location is subject to change at the discretion of the City due to operational demands. Effective January 2026 this role will be in person a minimum of 10 days per month. Position Overview Reporting to Supervisor, Transit Business Services, this role organizes the department-wide financial support, including accounts payable and receivable, budget monitoring, and reporting. This role coordinates fare/pass programs with external agencies, updates POS solution and monitors the transit revenue activities. Collaborates with the department subject matter experts to compile and monitor the standard operating procedures program This position also provides a next point of escalation for front line customer service staff, and training to department staff. Responsibilities The Associate, Transit Business Services will: Work independently on non-routine projects and provide status updates to Supervisor, Transit Business Services Manage the centralized transit inbox and ensure timely, accurate financial information and reporting. Coordinate and attend weekly farebox revenue deposits, which may include manual preparation and inventory of Revenue Room supplies. Process accounts receivable/payable transactions and journal entries; ensure coding accuracy and completeness. Review and process internal sales/data for accuracy and relevance. Ensure transit expenditures and revenues are in the correct cost centre/capital project and spend categories; review and processes account corrections, as needed. Verify sales and cash controls; troubleshoot and resolve till balancing issues with terminal staff in a timely manner. Train Burlington Transit terminal staff and administer the subsidy portion of the Halton Region Subsidized Pass for Low Income Transit (SPLIT) application-based program, including reconciling, invoicing, and liaison with Halton Region. Oversee inventory control and distribution of transit passes, PRESTO cards, and related supplies. Serve as first point of contact for PRESTO inquiries; resolve or escalate as needed. Act as Transit POS system administrator—maintain payment screens, test upgrades, and train staff, in collaboration with Supervisor, Transit Rider Experience & Education Ensure terminal staff are trained on corporate cash handling and reporting policies. Administer City Hall Transit Pass program and maintain participant eligibility. Coordinate transit department standard operating procedures (SOP) program updates and ensure SOPs are reviewed, revised and rescinded within respective cycle. Requirements Diploma with an emphasis on Administration, Business or Accounting curriculum. You will have a minimum two (2) years of office experience including experience with word processing, spreadsheets, accounting or bookkeeping, and related computer applications. Experience with customer service and dealing with the public is also required. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be comfortable managing multiple priorities with tight and often fixed deadlines. Most deadlines are known in advance (i.e., statistical reporting, agency reporting and payment). You will often be required to resolve general customer service issues which may require immediate attention. You will work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimum direction and follow standard practice for non-routine projects and refer unusual problems to the Supervisor, Transit Business Services. You must maintain goodwill and build positive working relationships with internal and external contacts while resolving concerns. This position has few physical demands however may require some safe-lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds. This position may require occasional travel between sites and/or City facilities.
