SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Under the general supervision of the Senior Project Manager – Transit Infrastructure, undertakes transit infrastructure related duties to provide maintenance and upkeep of on-street transit infrastructure.
GENERAL DUTIES
Assists the Project Manager and Senior Project Manager - Transit Infrastructure with administration, planning and maintenance of transit stops, stop amenities, ends-of-lines, loops, and terminals, ensuring that infrastructure assets meet operational and customer needs and are maintained in a state of good repair .
Assists in maintaining the transit infrastructure asset management database including data input, photos, and field visits.
Assists in the completion of regular field inspections of transit stops, ends-of-lines, loops, and terminals, including providing and updating documentation (inspection reports and photographs) related to reporting of existing conditions, condition deficiencies and AODA compliance.
Assists in the preparation work orders for general maintenance and repairs at transit stops, terminals, end-of-line, and loops. Ensures that minor repairs including but not limited to tightening securement apparatus on loose infrastructure, removal and replacement of decals or advertisement as well as graffiti on transit stops, shelters, terminals and other amenities are actioned.
Assists in preparing technical drawings for shelter placement, landing pads, benches and other amenities.
Prepares internal and external notices as it relates to infrastructure assets.
Liaises with internal and external partners, including HSR divisional sections, other Public Works divisions, and contracted vendors, on matters related to infrastructure assets.
Participates in and supports divisional Quality Management and Continuous Improvement initiatives as they relate to infrastructure assets.
Perform such other duties from time to time, as may be assigned by the Senior Project Manager, which are directly related to the normal job function.
QUALIFICATIONS
Recognized Technologist diploma in Transportation Engineering Technology from a recognized Community College program, together with experience on computerized data collection, field investigation, preparation of work orders, and preparation of associated communication materials and documents.
Able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with peers, the public and supervisors.
Ability and willingness to accept responsibilities and complete work on time under minimal supervision.
Experience working with Microsoft Office software including experience with word processing, data entry and manipulation of spreadsheets with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Ability r learn and become proficient in the use of transit specific and associated software applications.
Must possess and maintain a Class “G” Driver’s Licence valid in the Province of Ontario and a point-free driving record and/or record found to be satisfactory to the City of Hamilton
