LAB HELPER B POSITION SUMMARY: The Department of Mining and Materials Engineering at McGill University is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Lab Helper B (casual) to assist the Lab Supervisor with wet chemistry laboratory work. The incumbent will assist in conducting tests, collecting data, and preparing and maintaining a clean laboratory environment before and after experiments. RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with the characterization of waste concrete and biosolids produced by sewage treatment with ion concentration analysis by colourimetry, MP-AES, and solids characterization by powder x-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. Assist in setting up, conducting wet chemistry experiments, cleaning up, collecting and organizing data Assist in preparing reports and presentations, updating manuals and datasheets as required Keep the wet chemistry laboratory work area clean and orderly, and ensure all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated. Qualifications: High School Diploma is required A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience working in a laboratory environment is required Undergraduate degree in Materials Engineering or Chemical Engineering is an asset Previous work experience in a wet chemistry lab and with materials characterization (MP-AES, SEM, EDS, Raman spectroscopy, particle size analysis) or similar experience is an asset.
