Purpose of the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team within the firm by playing a key role within our Real Estate Finance department. In this role, you will be responsible for working on various aspects of our Real Estate portfolios, including financial due diligence of potential real estate acquisitions, financial reviews of current and potential tenants, and various ad hoc analyses. You will provide professional and insightful support to the Real Estate Finance Team and will look for opportunities to provide enhanced reporting and improve systems and processes. This role reports to the Director of Finance, Real Estate and is located in Vancouver
Core Responsibilities:
Working closely with the Investment Team on potential acquisitions where you will assist with all financial related items of a possible real estate acquisition from start to finish. This includes the preparation of financial due diligence, Statement of Adjustments and post-closing adjustments.
Responsible for performing tenant financial statement reviews for any tenants flagged by our Asset Managers or Leasing Team before a new lease deal is entered.
Preparing calculations for US Taxes on a quarterly basis and working with our external US Accountant.
Drafting various ad hoc analyses, including periodic disposition and sales analyses.
Assist in building the vision for Real Estate Finance reporting and analytics.
Involvement in various projects and initiatives as required.
Actively engaging in ongoing learning and development to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
CPA or equivalent with 3–5 years of experience, ideally including audit background.
Real estate industry experience considered a strong asset. CPA or equivalent qualification, preferably with audit experience and/or professional background in real estate.
Familiarity with Yardi accounting software would be an asset.
Proficient in MS Excel.
You are legally eligible to work in Canada for any employer.
The ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced, deadline driven environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
The ability to anticipate problems and solve them proactively.
Strong analytical and mathematical ability.
Compensation & Benefits Package:
This position comes with a base salary range of $85,000 - $110,000 plus a competitive performance bonus, RRSP contribution and participation in our profit-sharing program. Base salary will be commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications.
