About the Role: We are seeking a Principal Data Scientist to lead high-impact projects focused on improving the performance and quality of our Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems. In this role, you will independently drive complex initiatives, design and optimize data pipelines, apply advanced prompt engineering techniques, and guide a team of data scientists and engineers to deliver measurable improvements in the accuracy and responsiveness of our generative AI products. You will work closely with product, engineering, and platform teams to enhance system performance through rigorous experimentation, automation, and continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) practices. Key Responsibilities: Lead End-to-End RAG Projects: Independently drive the design, implementation, and evaluation of large-scale RAG workflows that improve retrieval quality and generative response relevance. Pipeline Development: Architect, build, and maintain robust data pipelines for preprocessing, training, evaluation, and logging across retrieval, reranking, and generation stages. Prompt Engineering & Evaluation: Design and refine prompts for optimal performance in legal and domain-specific use cases. Build automated frameworks for prompt A/B testing and scoring. Quality Analysis: Develop metrics and conduct in-depth analyses to identify bottlenecks in the system. Translate findings into actionable recommendations that drive model and system improvement. CI/CD Automation: Collaborate with MLOps and engineering teams to automate workflows, integrate quality checks, and ensure reliable deployment of model and pipeline updates. Mentorship & Technical Leadership: Provide guidance and support to junior data scientists and engineers. Promote best practices in experimental design, code quality, and documentation. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product managers, researchers, and software engineers to align technical solutions with business goals and user needs.
