Early access to a pension plan with various perks to acknowledge your contributions to the organization.Job DescriptionGeneral Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada is currently hiring for an IT Technologist to support the Maritime Helicopter Training Simulator (MHTS) program, located in the Fumerton-Bing Training Centre (FBTC) in Shearwater. The MHTS is used to provide RCAF Pilots, Tactical Control Coordinators (TACCO) and Sensor Operators (SENSO) personnel with the skills required to successfully perform all missions of the Maritime Helicopter (MH). The MHTS is also used to provide RCAF Maintenance Personnel with the knowledge and skills required to maintain the MH. Ideally, the selected candidate will have experience using computers, server equipment, and electronic control systems similar to those comprising the MHTS. As an IT Technologist, you will maintain the MHTS equipment, resolve outstanding and newly discovered technical issues and conduct upgrades to the training systems as required. This role is full time hours with benefits. You will work primarily onsite at the Fumerton-Bing Training Centre (FBTC) but will be based out of our Dartmouth location.The IT Technologist will be responsible for:Providing system installation support, assisting in the conduct of first power-up, system checkout and non-start up and performance demonstration.Providing on-going system technical support including system checkout, troubleshooting, system diagnosis, in-situ repairs, modifications, and follow-up.Performing routine maintenance tasks such as backups, regular inspections and hardware and software upgrades and replacement. Providing direct customer technical support. Conducting and supporting trials, technical rehearsals, tests and validation.Validating date systems configurations; installing hardware, new sources of software, changing peripherals, and supporting training. These tasks will normally be conducted directly in coordination with the customer.Representing maintenance and support requirements to internal support groups.Supporting maintenance issues such as upgrading user manuals, compiling parts lists, configuring local lists and family tree documents.Maintaining computers, devices, test equipment, racks, cables and connectors.Occasionally required to work out-of-schedule hours, assisting the team with tasks as required.Providing system level support to the Life Cycle Maintenance Manager (LCMM), as required.Since the FBTC runs shifts from 6:00 a.m. to midnight from Monday to Friday, flexibility of working hours are a requirement. There may also be occasional requirements to conduct maintenance activities outside these hours.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsThe applicant will require the following experience and capabilities:At least 4-6 years of relevant work experience.Knowledge of installing and configuring computer hardware, motherboards, graphics adapters, network cards, hard drives, etc. for both new and legacy equipment.Knowledge of both Linux and Windows operating systems, specifically Windows XP, and Windows Server 2008. Knowledge of RAID array drive system.Knowledge of network operating environments and protocols. Knowledge of data transmission protocols, TCP/IP, RS232, USB. MRC certification or equivalent experience.Knowledge of switches, routers, hubs, uninterruptible power supplies, and computer peripheralsAbility to troubleshoot and repair IT diagnostic tools, and OS provided functions.Ability to interact effectively with Customers and Team Members. Willingness to learn and adapt to new methods and procedures.Willingness to work out-of-schedule hours as needed with guidance from Maintenance Team Lead Shift Supervisor as required. This position may require the successful candidate to work all or part of their term at a site not controlled by GDMS-C. Assets to have:Familiarity with Airborne Mission Systems and simulators. Experience with MIL-STD systems and environments.It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed.
