We’re seeking a Senior Advisor, Business Development, to play a key role in shaping our low-carbon growth strategy. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for development of decarbonization projects, including Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), and support long-term commercial opportunities through strategic asset evaluations and technical input. This position blends technical expertise with commercial acumen, requiring an understanding of facility design, project economics, and regulatory frameworks. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to identify, assess, and develop projects that support our broader energy transition goals. Essential Functions: Accountable for project management of SK and AB decarbonization initiatives such that objectives, budgets and timelines are met. Budget tracking and forecasting; maintain and update monthly the annual forecasts including input into Long Range Planning (LRP) exercises and budget. Coordinate, prepare and deliver formal update/approval presentations for senior management and other stakeholders as required. Provide infrastructure/facility related support in asset evaluations and long-term commercial arrangements. Conduct economic evaluations on SCR CCS projects – assess project value and help context risk and opportunities associated with each. Stay abreast of emerging CCS technologies and emerging projects to better validate or optimize SCR’s projects, identification and mitigation of risks. Manage reporting for in-hand decarbonization related grants, identification of future grant opportunities relating to decarbonization and energy efficiency. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Engineering, Business, Environmental Science, or other relevant disciplines). 10+ years of technical/facility related project management experience in the oil and gas industry. Experience managing diverse, multidisciplinary teams and driving accountability/focus to meet deadlines and budgetary targets. Understanding various types of carbon capture processes and key performance characteristics. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex ideas to facilitate efficient decision making. Track record exhibiting humility, curiosity, and perseverance. Enthusiasm for learning and continuous improvement of workflows/processes. Experience conducting economic analysis. Collective mindset with a strong commitment to team success over individual recognition. Preferred qualifications: Familiarity with federal and provincial regulations related to decarbonization. Experience building or operating a wide variety of infrastructure assets (e.g. Pipelines, gas plants, SAGD facilities, acid gas disposal, etc.). Knowledge of grant and funding application processes.
