Zaber is looking for a creative and experienced Senior CNC Machinist to join our machine shop team. You will be programming, setting up, running, and troubleshooting CNC machine tools for the manufacture of aluminum and stainless steel components. Additionally, you will be helping us to improve and evolve our machining practices and processes, as well as guiding and mentoring less experienced machinists. You enjoy challenges and finding solutions where others see problems and you have a track record of devising solutions to difficult machining problems.
Working as part of the machine shop team, you will be a key player in figuring out how to make the parts that make up our positioning devices. You will develop skills in our production, IQC and administrative processes and help to advance those systems.
The machine shop supports a number of processes within the company from building new prototypes, to machining custom components for customer needs, to building inventory for stock. As a member of the machine shop team, you will work not only with the shop team but also with engineering, production, IQC, purchasing and others.
Senior CNC Machinist Responsibilities:
Help develop processes for CNC mills, lathes, and waterjet.
Design and build required tools and fixtures.
Write and prove CNC programs.
Setup machines for production.
Troubleshoot, improve, and simplify challenging machine setups.
Communicate with the design team for clarity or with suggestions.
Operate machines to tight tolerances and standards.
Inspect parts, ensuring that they conform to specifications.
Senior CNC Machinist Qualifications:
Willingness to be a contributor to a highly productive team.
Significant CNC programming experience. CAM and Macro experience would be beneficial.
Significant experience machining high-tolerance (<.025mm) moving parts.
Significant experience machining parts that have tight flatness, parallelism, perpendicularity, and positional tolerances. GD&T experience would be beneficial.
8+ years experience, including Machinist education.
Experience with 4 and 5 axis machining centers.
Strong computer communication and office skills.
Intimate knowledge of measuring tools and practices, specifically using height gauges on granite surface plates.
Any experience with automation, CMMs, or computer programming would be beneficial.

CNC Machinist Wage:
The starting wage for the role is $40 - $50 depending on experience.
