Reporting to the Manager of Network Services, the Network Services IT/OT Solution Designer is responsible for overseeing the design and oversight to the implement process, alongside ensuring that governance is maintained for advanced network solutions across IT and Operational Technology (OT) environments. This role requires a deep understanding of IT/OT integration, Factory 4.0, Purdue Model and Canadian industry standards. The successful candidate will drive the convergence of IT and OT systems, ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable networks to support industrial and enterprise operations. Responsibilities
Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
Develop and lead IT/OT network architectures tailored to Canadian industrial and regulatory requirements
Present Designs at various gate reviews within Teck’s ego systems (Infrastructure Solution Board, Enterprise Architecture Reviews)
Build designs based on business intent and review already approved solution blocks as part of any design to understand fit for purpose
Develop and implement strategies for seamless IT/OT integration, enabling real-time data exchange and improved visibility
Collaborate with operations teams to modernize OT systems while ensuring compatibility with IT infrastructure
Support the deployment of edge computing solutions and cloud-based IIoT platforms
Ensure all IT/OT network designs align with Canadian regulations and industry standards (e.g., NERC CIP, CSA, NIST)
Implement advanced cybersecurity measures to safeguard IT/OT networks against evolving threats
Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to protect critical infrastructure
Monitor IT and OT networks for efficient performance and reliability
Troubleshoot complex networking issues, ensuring minimal downtime and operational impact
Continuously evaluate and improve network performance to meet organizational needs
Lead multi-functional teams in designing and deploying IT/OT network solutions tailored to Canadian industries
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and technical teams
Collaborate with external partners and vendors to evaluate and implement innovative technologies
Develop comprehensive documentation, including network designs, policies, and operational procedures
Train teams on IT/OT networking, LTE technologies, and standard processes
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
7+ years of experience in IT/OT network design, integration, and architecture
Proven expertise in deploying and managing LTE networks in industrial settings
In-depth knowledge of IT/OT networking principles, industrial protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC-UA, PROFINET), and IIoT platforms
Experience with private LTE, 4G/5G network design, and integration with industrial environments
Proficiency in cybersecurity practices for IT/OT systems, including firewall management, VPNs, and intrusion detection
Familiarity with SCADA systems, edge computing, and cloud integration
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Superb communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with partners
Leadership experience in running multi-functional projects and teams
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certifications in Canadian industrial standards (e.g., CSA, NERC CIP) or equivalent certifications are considered an asset

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
