Position Overview:
Seeking an experienced Private Chef for a residence in West Vancouver. The successful applicant will be required to prepare lunch, and dinner for the family. The typical work hours are 10am – 6pm, Monday through Friday. Applicants should be flexible with their schedules and be available for some weekends and holidays. This is a full-time, live-out position.

You are a well-rounded private chef who enjoys keeping a clean and very well-organized work environment. You have a strong understanding of household hygiene and cleaning best practices. You have a ‘do what it takes attitude’ and have a calm and collected approach when things don’t go as planned. You can wear a number of different hats and thrive in a collaborative, respectful, and detail-oriented household. You take pride in creating nourishing, beautiful food that support the family’s wellness goals.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design and prepare weekly menus in close consultation with the family with a focus on plant-based, gluten free, incorporating the regular inclusion of fish and seafood and the occasional use of meat
Be flexible with scheduling to accommodate occasional evening or weekend hosting when the family entertains guests
Emphasize nutrition-first menus built around whole foods, sprouted seeds, nut milks, fermented foods, and nutrient-dense sauces and dressings
Prepare daily meals and keep the fridge stocked with ready-to-grab snacks
Source high quality organic, local, and seasonal ingredients
Manage grocery shopping, food inventory and kitchen pantry items in order to minimize food waste through efficient planning and preparation
Menu planning, track and keep records of menus to avoid repetition of meals
Organizing food supply and kitchen inventory; tracking expenses for kitchen inventory
Maintain a clean kitchen and workspace daily
Applicant Qualities:
Excellent English communication skills and professional personal presentation, to courteously and professionally interact with principals, guests and staff
Professional culinary training with a background in nutrition-focused cooking an asset
Holistic Nutrition education or certification a strong asset
Proven knowledge of and experience with sprouted grains, alternative flours, and non-dairy milks
Must maintain privacy and confidentiality always, exercising diplomacy, discretion and respecting appropriate boundaries
A valid, clean British Colombia driver’s license is an asset
Valid Food Safe certification
A degree or diploma from an accredited culinary institution is an asset
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
