Position Overview The City of Burlington is accepting applications for the Sound Technician position for the Summer Concert in the Park series. The successful applicant must attend all outdoor concert events on each Sunday and Wednesday evening (5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.) from Sunday, June 15th to Wednesday, August 27th, 2025, with additional events possible in early September. Responsibilities The Sound Technician will be responsible for the set-up, tear-down, and operating of the sound system for the Concert in the Park series. The supplied sound system includes a 22-channel mixer, 16-channel snake, main speakers, monitors, microphones, and stands. Each performing group will provide basic sound requirements in advance of their performance. The Sound Technician will communicate with the performing ensembles to determine the sound requirements, and select, position, and adjust the equipment to provide the best possible sound experience in the outdoor venue. Requirements The ideal candidate will have at least two (2) years of practical and technical experience setting up and operating sound equipment for a variety of different ensembles and sizes (e.g. concert band, big band, rock band, blues band, choir). Please note that this position requires heavy lifting and the moving and setting up of sound equipment up to 50 lbs. Candidates must possess good interpersonal and communication skills to build a strong working relationship with the performing ensembles, audience and operations staff.
