About this opportunity
Our client’s Bermuda office is seeking a Senior Finance Manager. The Senior Finance Manager, reporting to the Group Financial Controller, will play a key role in preparing U.S. GAAP financial statements and technical accounting memos. This position will also oversee internal and external financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of financial information.
Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual stand-alone and consolidated financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including board materials for the company's Bermuda entities
Support the monthly financial close process by preparing and reviewing reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance
Coordinate and review regulatory reporting requirements for the company's Bermuda entities to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
Assist in preparing budgets and financial forecasts while monitoring performance metrics for the company’s Bermuda entities
Support the accounting and reporting of the investment portfolio, including analyzing financial results and providing insights
Provide support for fund reporting functions related to treasury and investment activities
Oversee intercompany transactions and the recharge process across the group, ensuring proper documentation and accounting
Supervise and review work performed by third-party service providers to ensure quality and compliance
Partner with the broader accounting/finance team to maintain a robust internal control environment
Support internal projects aimed at implementing process improvements related to accounting, reporting, and external reporting
Support the preparation of FASB developments, drafting technical accounting memos, interpreting accounting policies, and staying informed on trends within the (re)insurance industry
Assist with special projects, system enhancements, and ad hoc reporting requests as required
Liaise and coordinate with external auditors for audits of all the company's Bermuda entities
What you’ll need
An internationally recognized accounting certification (CA, CPA, or ACCA) is required
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
A minimum of eight years’ post-qualifying work experience, which should be in the (re)insurance industry, either in an accounting firm with significant (re)insurance exposure or in reinsurance accounting
Strong technical and practical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, particularly in reinsurance accounting
Experience in preparing U.S. GAAP financial statements and Bermuda regulatory reporting required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills
Proven ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet tight deadlines, and respond to changing priorities
Strong analytical, detail-oriented, and organizational skills
Proactive, self-motivated individual capable of working autonomously and in a team environment
Must have advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Experience working in WDesk (Workiva) and Clearwater Analytics is an asset
Working knowledge with accounting ERPs (e.g., SUN, SAP, Oracle etc.) is an asset
