GENERAL DESCRIPTION: We are seeking an experienced and versatile Associate Counsel to provide a broad range of legal services and strategic advice across various departments and business units within our Canadian operations. This role requires a corporate generalist with strong analytical, contractual, and advocacy skills to support the company’s transactional, commercial, and employment-related legal matters. As an Associate Counsel with us the minimum responsibilities are: Provide legal counsel on transactional and commercial matters, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating customer contracts, collection, transportation, and disposal agreements, as well as requests for proposals and other commercial arrangements. Assist with labour and employment matters, including labour arbitrations and employment proceedings before courts and relevant tribunals. Enforce commercial and municipal contracts to ensure compliance and protect the company’s interests. Support the resolution of disputes and litigation matters as they arise. Manage special projects as assigned. Collaborate with and oversee external legal counsel as needed. WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU: Juris Doctor (J.D.) with strong academic credentials. Member in good standing of the Ontario Bar. 2–5 years of experience, either in-house or at a law firm. Strong interpersonal skills with a dynamic, team-oriented approach. Excellent analytical and advocacy skills, with the ability to draft, review, and apply legal advice effectively. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines. Proficiency in leveraging technology to enhance the delivery of legal services. Adaptability and willingness to engage in a diverse range of legal matters. Ability to successfully complete all pre-employment requirements.
