Summary The Water Treatment Technician will assist and coordinate the day-to-day field operation of water treatment equipment used to support the installation of marine pilings for the WLNG project in Squamish, BC. This is a seasonal full-time position, with employment based on fisheries windows from June 1, 2025 – March 1, 2026. The regular schedule consists of a 2-week rotation, requiring 84 hours per week, followed by one week off. Candidates must be available to work both day and night. The successful candidate must be available to travel out of town as needed for extended periods of time. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Work safely. Maintain safe and clean equipment and work area. Install, maintain and service water treatment systems. Perform duties defined by provided daily checklist and document. Complete service logs as required. Demonstrate an understanding of internal and external customer requirements and provide quality service. Assist with gathering and responding to compliance inquiries/concerns. Maintain operational quality standards as predetermined by management. Follow all safety and equipment checks and precautions in the performance of all duties. Assist the Superintendent with accident investigations and preparing the necessary paperwork. Conform in all respects with applicable federal, provincial and local laws, regulations, ordinances and other orders and to all company policies, procedures and directives from supervisors. Attend and assist with safety and branch meetings. Clean and maintain equipment to ensure optimal performance. Train in unfamiliar processes and equipment, within established guidelines. Operation of equipment and vehicles. Follow Environment, Health and Safety policies, procedures, and all environmental protocols and requirements. Actively participate in safety meetings, identify and report all incidents, and participate in investigations as necessary. Work in an outdoor setting in various weather conditions. Performs yard housekeeping duties as required to maintain a clean and organized work environment. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Education Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and a fairly clean Commercial Driving Abstract. Work out of town for extended periods as needed. Mechanical aptitude. Strong troubleshooting skills. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Solid written communication skills to complete compliance inquiries and paperwork. Possess effective verbal communication skills to interact with Company staff, contractors, and customers. Ability to perform mathematical calculations as required for the job. Ability to multi-task, exercise good judgment and think proactively. Work without direct supervision with only assistance from fellow team members and general operating and safety guidelines. Excellent customer service skills, with strong work ethic and positive attitude to represent the GFL brand effectively and favorably. Ability to perform moderately labour intensive and repetitious tasks. Physically fit with the ability to lift +50lbs and stand for extended periods of time.
