Learn more at shn.ca Job Description: The Manager, Equipment Planning and Project Management will be accountable for clinical and non-clinical asset planning and management. This role will be expected to actively collaborate with the Biomedical Engineering and Professional Practice Programs to participate in the life-cycle management of SHN’s furniture, fixtures and equipment, in addition to overseeing capital equipment planning activities, support procurement processes, and collaborate in the implementation projects of equipment within the SHN hospitals. The role is expected to provide leadership in the development of major capital equipment projects and overall supervision for all SHN’s furniture, fixtures and equipment needs for short-term and long-term planning. This role will work closely with the Redevelopment Department to support the Furniture, Fixture and Equipment (FF&E), Biomedical Engineering and Professional Practice redevelopment projects. Additionally, this role will coordinate efforts with various departments to maintain appropriate inventory levels and mitigate corporate risk and balance demand with broader organizational need. Responsibilities: Working in close collaboration with corporate procurement, develop the strategic plan for centralized purchasing/procurement of materials, equipment, machinery, and services required for operations, projects, and capital investments Work directly with clinical staff and hospital consultants to understand the user needs and ensure the equipment is integrated in a way that optimises the best patient care possible, efficient healthcare delivery and facility performance Supervise or manage complex negotiations to settle commercial disputes and claims with suppliers by establishing goals and approving commercial settlements Ensure effective procurement and disposal of equipment to meet the requirements and needs of the hospital’s internal stakeholders Work with the other team members to ensure that facility designs accommodate equipment space and functional requirements including utilization needs; review proposed equipment lists and facility plans with the user groups to ensure appropriate technical requirements are met Developing and managing budgets. Maintain and track records, licences, inspections, warranties and service agreements Requirements: Undergraduate Degree in Biomedical Engineering or in a related field, from an accredited University Minimum 5-10 years experience working in a health care environment Minimum 5 years experience working in a leadership role, preferably in a health care setting Experience with drafting requests for proposals and vendor agreements Demonstrated vast knowledge and technical understanding of furniture, fixtures, equipment and systems Comprehensive understanding of medical equipment specifications, their complex systems and the latest technologies Fundamental understanding of equipment and capital planning, project management and process improvement practices, contract administration, and vendor procurement Knowledge of electrical and mechanical interfaces for equipment, including new hospital construction (P3) and major redevelopment projects Advanced computer skills including reporting using MS Office (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook), Project, Visio, and AutoCAD preferred Detail, action and results oriented Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, diverse environment Highly self motivated with ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively Experience with coordinating of technical or clinical evaluations, compliance and quality testing Knowledge of the Procurement Processes Demonstrates excellent work performance and attendance record Accommodation and Diversity Statement: Scarborough Health Network (SHN) embraces and celebrates our community’s unique multicultural heritage and diversity.
