The Animation Supervisor will oversee the quality of the animation, ensuring it aligns with the project's goals and maintaining consistent performances by casting the right animators for the job. Additionally, they will ensure that creative aspirations and production needs are fulfilled, necessitating negotiations with both departments to achieve the optimal outcome for the production's success.
What you’ll be doing:
Oversee and review all animation work, providing clear feedback and final approval before submission to the Sequence Director and ultimately the Film Director
Lead and mentor the animation team in collaboration with the Animation Lead, ensuring creative and technical alignment
Partner with the Director and Production team to define and uphold the animation style and vision throughout the film
Guide animators with thoughtful, consistent feedback to maintain a high standard of performance and visual storytelling across all shots
Collaborate closely with departments such as Storyboarding, Layout, and Compositing to support a cohesive and efficient animation pipeline
Act as a key stakeholder in recruitment efforts and contribute to onboarding and development of new animation talent
Ensure consistency, quality, and creative integrity across sequences while adapting to evolving production needs and feedback
5+ years experience in a Supervisor role in animation, preferably fully animated or hybrid feature films
15+ years in the field of CG animation production, preferably fully animated or hybrid feature films
Deep understanding of form, motion, weight, balance, and physicality in a 3D space
Solid foundation in the principles of classical animation and how they apply to CG performance
Skilled at bringing characters to life through expressive animation that reflects personality and emotional nuance
Effective communicator with the ability to translate creative vision and technical direction clearly across departments
Proven leadership in guiding and motivating teams under tight deadlines and high-pressure environments
Cultivates a collaborative, respectful team culture that supports open communication and creative problem-solving
Provides clear, constructive feedback to artists, ensuring clarity and cohesion across shots and sequences
Maintains professionalism, focus, and adaptability amid the fast-paced and often politically sensitive nature of feature film production
Pay Range: CAD $2800 - $3100 per week
