Job Profile:
Lions Housing Centres Inc. is recruiting a Quality and Safety Improvement Coordinator within our Human Resources department. This position is responsible for enhancing organizational effectiveness through quality improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. This role involves developing and implementing quality and safety programs, analyzing data to identify trends, enforcing policies, training staff, and conducting risk assessments to maintain high standards of care, safety, and operational efficiency for both staff and residents. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop and Implement Quality and Safety Improvement Programs:
Design and oversee programs aimed at improving processes, safety protocols, and operational effectiveness across various departments.
Data Analysis & Trend Identification:
Collect, analyze, and interpret data to identify performance trends, areas for improvement, and potential risks.
Corrective Action Planning:
Develop and implement corrective measures to address deficiencies and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Policy and Procedure Review:
Evaluate and update organizational policies to align with best practices, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.
Incident Investigation & Reporting:
Investigate incidents related to quality, staff and resident care, workplace injuries, or complaints, and report findings to management.
Audits and Inspections:
Conduct regular assessments to ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines, safety protocols, and continuous improvement standards.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work collaboratively with various departments, leadership teams, the workplace health and safety committee, and external agencies to implement quality and safety initiatives.
Training & Education:
Organize and conduct training for staff and residents on quality assurance, health and safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
Emergency Preparedness:
Develop emergency response plans, coordinate drills with staff and residents, and ensure emergency equipment is operational.
Compliance & Reporting:
Ensure adherence to provincial and federal regulations, maintain safety records, and submit reports to regulatory bodies.
Professionalism:
Maintains confidentiality in all matters pertaining to residents, staff and facility operations.

Participates in mandatory trainings/annual education required by employment legislations and the organization.

Job Requirements
Education:
Post Secondary Education in a Health and Safety program.
Working knowledge of Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act and Workers Compensation Board Act
Certification in health and safety is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in health and safety role and quality process improvement.
Experience in a Healthcare environment (Long-Term Care) is an asset.
Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset.
Skills and Competencies:
