The location for this position is Toronto, Ottawa, or Montreal Your role As Senior Advisor, International Relations, you will support the Executive Director, Policy and International Relations, and work closely with the entire Corporate Development management team as well as with individuals across the Organization. You will contribute to an interesting and important range of projects and initiatives, including international conferences and agreements with Public Service Media (PSM) organizations in other jurisdictions. You will be expected to: Help develop and nurture relationships with a wide assortment of PSM organizations around the world through regular contact and communications. Liaise with Senior personnel from foreign PSM on various files; and participate on various Committees and working groups (as required). Provide logistical and organizational support for key projects and initiatives. Provide strategic counsel to the Executive Director, Policy and International Relations with respect to international activities and trends, and related policies for the Corporation. Develop and implement strategies and tactics to maximize CBC/Radio-Canada’s visibility on the international stage and among other PSM organizations. Ensure effective tracking and reporting of the initiatives related to our International activities. Plan, lead, and organize discussions, meetings, presentations, events, and tours with representatives of international PSM organizations. Monitor PSM activities, trends, and research undertaken in other jurisdictions, provide strategic advice, and prepare and present internal reports accordingly. Contribute to the development of internal policy, and regulatory and advocacy positions, with learnings and best practices from other jurisdictions. Liaise with relevant domestic government departments and agencies as required to support the international work. As required, prepare and present relevant materials to the Corporate Development Team, Senior Executive Team, Board of Directors, and other key internal stakeholders. As required, act as a representative of CBC/Radio-Canada to various meetings to advance the Corporation’s public service priorities. We are looking for a candidate with the following: University degree or certificate in administration, project management, communications, policy development, international relations, or any other related field. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French. Knowledge of a third-language(s) is an asset. Exceptional organizational, logistical, and planning skills, including with respect to event planning. Experience in relationship management and liaising with third-parties. Knowledge of public service media and broadcasting environments is required. Ability to balance multiple time-sensitive files concurrently. Ability to organize, set agendas, manage, and lead meetings (in-person and virtual settings). Highly skilled in the preparation and presentation of communications and meeting materials (including information decks). Comfortable dealing with senior levels of authority, both internally and externally. Comfortable working with quantitative and qualitative research materials. Ability to develop persuasive arguments and influence decision-makers. Ability to conceive and implement communications plans. Judgment, diplomacy, and tact. Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate discussions, meetings, and events in multiple time zones. Some travel within Canada – primarily Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal – with potential for a limited amount of international travel. Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
