Compensation Range: $30.87 - $36.13/hour
Position Summary:
ErinoakKids is seeking an enthusiastic individual to fill a part time permanent position as a Communication & Technology Facilitator (CTF) with the Assistive Devices Resource Service. The Communication & Technology Facilitator is part of a team that supports the provision of assistive technology for face-to-face communication, access and writing to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with therapists in the arrangement, set-up and programming of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) equipment and materials
Support Speech-Language Pathologists and Occupational Therapists in assessment and training sessions
Program communication devices and create displays/systems for AAC users
Provide individual/group training and technical troubleshooting to clients/families/school mediators in order to support both written and verbal communication skills
Develop training materials for clients/families/school
Provide families with information on ADP and CEP’s leasing and/or purchasing policies/procedures and complete necessary paperwork
Maintain expertise and knowledge of AAC technologies
Qualifications:
Graduate of a post-graduate Communicative Disorders Assistant program
Experience with AAC systems: Speech Generating Devices, low tech communication systems and specialized computer software and hardware preferred
Computer proficiency required
Two years of clinical experience working with children with special needs preferred
Ability to work independently and be an effective and collaborative member of a multi-disciplinary team
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills (written and verbal)
Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle required
Bilingualism in French and English is an asset
The successful candidate must possess a valid Ontario driver’s license and have access to a personal vehicle
