Job Overview:
MATRIX is looking for an experienced Yard Person for the summer season of May 2025 – October 2025. Our Osoyoos location serves as a key logistics and staging hub for exploration camps across western BC. We’re seeking a proactive, adaptable Yard Person to join our team and help keep things moving—sometimes literally.
Staff housing in Osoyoos can be provided for this seasonal role for applicants who normally reside outside of the South Okanagan.

The individual selected for this role will be a team-oriented, motivated person with attention to detail. They will play a key role at our Osoyoos location by supporting the team with expediting and operating machinery and be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the yard.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who takes initiative, is comfortable working in a dynamic and sometimes ambiguous environment and enjoys creating structure where it’s missing. You’ll play a vital role in organizing the yard, supporting logistics and shipping activities, and maintaining assets and equipment. You’ll also be a key point of contact for expediting materials to remote camps.
There is no “typical” day in this role—your work may vary depending on operational priorities, and you’ll need to juggle tasks across yard management, light mechanical work, shipping and receiving, and field coordination. This role reports to the National Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Proactively build and manage daily and weekly work plans for the yard.
Organize and maintain internal and external yard spaces.
Maintain and track inventory, including tagging and proofing assets as they move in and out of storage.
Ensure cleanliness and organization of the yard, shop, and common areas.
Assist in loading and unloading trucks and trailers with a focus on safe and efficient work practices.
Conduct basic maintenance and repairs on assets (mechanical aptitude preferred).
Support shipping, receiving, and expediting logistics.
Coordinate with the Expeditor and Buyer on freight scheduling, documentation, and shipment preparation.
Liaise with operations, logistics, and purchasing staff to stay aligned on changing priorities.
Operate vehicles and equipment, including telehandler, loader, and forklift.
Operate company vehicles for expediting services, errands, and transporting staff to and from airports or hotels as needed.
Help identify and implement improvements in yard systems, workflows, and inventory practices.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or holder of a valid work permit or visa).
Self-starter who can create order in an evolving environment
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and prioritizing with limited direction
Effective communicator, both written and verbal
Enthusiastic to pitch in when urgent or emerging requests come from the field crews and wear multiple hats to solve problems
A desire and willingness to work as a strong leader who is flexible to change
Self-motivated, and takes pride in the job at hand
Requires the ability to lead by example and show initiative
Must be dependable and responsible
Ability to multi-task and be detail oriented
Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Strong Mechanical aptitude would be an asset
Computer literacy and experience with MS Office
Preferred Licensing & Certifications:
First Aid Certification.
WHMIS Certification (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System).
Certified (or experienced) to operate a forklift
Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driver abstract
Previous experience working in a yard with efficiency and safety minded
Salary Range:
This is a seasonal role operating between May 2025 – October 2025 paying $325 - $350/ day (Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm)
