This position offers an opportunity to join a growing, entrepreneurial life insurance business. The AVP, Reinsurance Pricing Actuary will be part of the global reinsurance team, with primary responsibility for supporting Flow Reinsurance pricing efforts across North America and Asia. The specific geographic focus may shift over time, reflecting activity across the group. The role involves close collaboration with pricing and underwriting colleagues located across several global offices.
Essential Responsibilities:
Lead pricing and underwriting on global flow reinsurance transactions, including technical analysis, structuring and commercial negotiation
Lead the communication with cedents on regular re-pricing
Lead the assessments and quantification of potential risks for flow reinsurance transactions
Lead the pricing models for existing treaties and new models for future new treaties
Ensure the Company operates with the highest levels of integrity, skill, care and due diligence
Work with internal functions such as financial, actuarial and reinsurance operations to provide flow reinsurance treaty related support
What you’ll need
Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or other related fields
Fellow of the Society of Actuaries or nearly qualified. Equivalent Actuarial designations also accepted
6+ years of experience in life insurance/reinsurance industry in pricing, valuation or other actuarial function
A strong background in reinsurance pricing and reinsurance treaty negotiation is preferred
Strong knowledge of the US market in terms of products and regulations and familiarity with U.S. Statutory and GAAP guidance and practical application thereof preferred
Experience with asset-intensive reinsurance of life or life insurance pricing preferred
Knowledge of modern modelling frameworks and economic balance sheet methodology (or comparable solvency-based reserving regime)
Proficiency in Excel and other modelling software/language (Python or R) preferred
Demonstrated ability to work independently from data and information gathering, modelling, to analysing and reporting on the topic
Experience with high standards regarding the quality of technical analysis and other deliverables
Embrace automation and technological solutions for all uses of data (e.g. modelling, analysis and reporting)
Efficient project management skills with a focus on driving-for-results
