Join our team today!Job DescriptionThe Assistant Clinical Services Manager for the General Medicine program will: support day-to-day unit / service operations; provide leadership to an interprofessional team and ensure application of best practices; effectively communicate and lead processes in delivering safe, high-quality, patient centered and cost-effective services, using an engaging evidence-informed approach.Respectful interactions and collaboration with patients and families are core expectations of this role.This position will report to the Clinical Services Manager (CSM) to ensure the program goals and objectives are met and are in alignment with the corporate strategic and clinical priorities plans. The position provides day-to-day leadership on the clinical units and service areas and often calls to be the CSM delegate.Accountabilities:Quality and Safe Patient Care: Support the implementation of best / leading practices, quality documentation and accountability models;Facilitate an inter-professional collaborative approach to care, recognizing and maximizing the unique contribution of each team member;Monitor and respond in a timely manner to quality, safety, risk and other performance / outcome indicators;Promote and facilitate a safe and therapeutic environment in accordance with best practices for the provision of care;Promote patient and family centered care, including responding to and addressing issues and / or concerns identified by patients and families, or internal and external stakeholders in a timely fashion;Coordinate resolution of issues / concerns / related to operational activities across the program to ensure seamless leadership and support;Provide oversight in the development and evaluation of care plans provided by the inter-professional team, with accountability for evaluation and point of care outcomes;Work collaboratively with the CSM and interprofessional team members – assess and ensures clinical and educational needs are met within the inpatient units and service areas on an ongoing basis; Other duties as assigned. Leverage INformation-driven and Goal-oriented processes in driving change and improvement Works collaboratively with the CSM, and shares accountability for achieving program targets, managing risk, improving quality and safety and advancing patient care outcomes under the direction of the Director for Acute General Medicine, Critical Care, Respiratory Therapy, and Transitions;Works collaboratively with the Clinical Nurse Educator, Nurse Practitioner, program leaders and the interprofessional team in reducing waste, adding value, raising standards, improving effectiveness and delivering high performance from the team;Supports agreed upon evaluation and outcome criteria to drive timely delivery of outputs, analysis and interpretation of data, and provide feedback to the team on findings;Works collaboratively with the CSM and program Director to identify gaps in processes, policies and procedures and support the sustainable delivery of excellent patient-centered care;Facilitates huddles and chairs the team meetings under the direction of the CSM, and attends other internal/external meetings as appropriate. People Development and Team Building Fosters open communication, learning, and professional growth of the staff;Provides the clinical expertise essential to support managers with effective problem solving and decision-making;Initiates action and reports to the CSM, when staff behavior and/or performance do not meet professional standards and will independently manage the performance of a defined group of staff members;In conjunction with the CSM, manage the Attendance Awareness Program; In collaboration with the CSM, manage the recruitment and selection process;Provide support to the CSM in the completion of performance evaluations; Cultivate effective interprofessional relationships at all levels;Create an environment that empowers individuals to take ownership and responsibility for their actions, promote staff initiative and nurture high morale and engagement;Demonstrates relevant on-going professional development and commitment to continuing development. Clinical Resource Utilization Management Manages all staffing requirements cost-effectively in meeting the daily operational needs;Identifies issues and challenges; monitors trends requiring targeted interventions and change in practice patterns or processes;Assists the CSM to monitor the unit budget and understand variances to ensure cost effective resources;Identifies and provides value-added point of care resources to ensure and optimize safe and effective patient-centered care;Responsible for supporting the CSM with the completion of time keeping, shift changes, payroll completion and approval.
