Recreation Assistant
Job Status: Continuous Part-Time
Pay & Grade: $21.63 to $ 22.50 Hourly Grade/Band: 3
Hours of Work:Up to 24 Hours per week

Overview
Recreation assistants play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of a wide variety of recreation and leisure programs in the community.
Responsibilities
Delivers equipment to various locations. Ensures new equipment purchases are recorded for inventory. Sanitizes and inspects existing equipment to ensure it is functioning properly.
Organizes fitness/other equipment storage rooms before the start of a new session.
Visits various locations to monitor programs and connect with program staff and/or volunteers. Reports any concerns to the Program Coordinator for appropriate follow-up.
Provides support and occasionally attends volunteer-led programs to ensure an inclusive and welcoming environment for all participants.
Ensure evaluations are completed for each program at the end of each session.
Monitors program attendance and conduct follow-up with participants to determine their ongoing interest.
Assist Program Coordinators to develop and implement volunteer appreciation initiatives.
Assists in the implementation of special program events.
Assists Program Coordinator in the implementation of wellness and educational workshops.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum level of education – completion of secondary school education (or the equivalent).
Must be able to lift 35lbs unassisted.
Access to reliable transportation for the duration of employment
Minimum 3 months of related experience.
Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
