About the Position:
Founded in 1973 by a passionate group of volunteers who wanted to contribute back to Canada, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. is a non-partisan, non-profit multicultural organization serving newcomers, seniors, youth and families. Over the course of its 52-year history, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. has evolved into one of the largest social services agencies in the country, offering a wide range of programs and services that promote the belonging, wellness, and independence of all people on their Canadian journey. The organization's team delivers high-need services to clients from 150 countries through 40 service locations across Canada and in Asia.
Since 2008, S.U.C.C.E.S.S., through its housing entities, has been operating and managing affordable housing projects throughout Metro Vancouver. S.U.C.C.E.S.S. provides quality, affordable rental homes so families and individuals can thrive, ensuring successful tendencies, safety and well-being of tenants through effective operations, maintenance and repair of the buildings. In collaboration with BC Housing and local municipalities, the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Community Real Estate and Asset Management department has over 70 employees who manage and operate 1,160 units of affordable housing across 13 projects, provide facilities management for the organization's office and building portfolio, manage new housing developments and deliver the Capital Planning and Renewal programs.
S.U.C.C.E.S.S. and its development partners have been on a growth trajectory with over 1,000 additional units of affordable housing in the development pipeline. Going forward, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. will continue to work with current partners and stakeholders and develop new partnerships to increase access to affordable housing.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director, Community Real Estate and Asset Management provides overall leadership, direction and management in the areas of housing services and operations, tenant services, asset and property management and new housing project development. In addition, the Director will participate as part of the senior management team in establishing the strategic direction of the organization which will include identifying new project development and partnership opportunities that will have a positive impact and lasting impact for individuals and families in the homes S.U.C.C.E.S.S. manages and operates.
A primary mandate of the unit is to manage its portfolio of assets as efficiently as possible. Success in this role will require placing the right people in the right roles, along with a strong grasp of customer and tenant relations, conflict resolution, budgeting, general operations, and both asset and property management. The ideal candidate brings senior-level operational experience likely overseeing a range of facilities and services, paired with strong leadership, relationship-building, and personnel management skills. They will be adept at empowering staff, fostering accountability, and driving the achievement of both organizational and operational objectives.
In accordance with BC's Pay Transparency Act, the expected salary range for this role is $143,000 - $148,000 and may vary based on the successful candidate.
