We are currently seeking an Aquatic and Fisheries Ecologist based out of our Edmonton office. This is a full-time permanent position focused on leading, assessing and reporting on watercourse crossing (WCC) projects. This position ensures the integrity of WCC management program including managing Woodlands' WCC spatial database (SCARI). Project work is team-based, safety driven and is completed for the energy, forestry, government, and private landowners throughout the province of Alberta and BC.

Position Responsibilities
This position is responsible for safe and efficient project work;
Support our WCC mobile technology, spatial data set integrity and web enabled dashboard;
Lead and manage project deliverables and working relationships with Woodlands’ peers and management, regulators, and clients;
Provide senior ecology review of reports and data analysis;
Support mentorship and inspire the professional development of Woodlands employees.
?Position Requirements and Qualifications
Proficient with GIS and spatial ecological database management;
University Degree or technical diploma is required in Environmental, Earth Science, Forestry, Biology, Engineering, Geomatics or Surveying;
Qualified Aquatic Environmental Specialist;
Professional registration or eligibility in one of Alberta’s Professional Regulatory Organizations, with preference of P. Biol. with Alberta Society of Professional Biologists;
Minimum experience of 5 years;
Strong analytical and reporting skills;
Ability to demonstrate a safety and customer service focus;
Developed technical writing skills;
Proficient with Alberta Fish and Fish Habitat;
Expert at stream construction of Abiotic Features - slope, gradient, roughness, chemistry, wood, planted vegetation, cover and shape for the purpose of recruiting biotic features or accelerating the WCC rate of recovery;
Knowledgeable of Federal and Provincial legislation, regulations, and permitting.
