Job Description What is the opportunity? As the Director of Trade Finance, you will develop and execute effective sales strategies to grow revenue from a portfolio of complex corporate/capital markets clients and through new client acquisitions by offering a full suite of Trade Finance solutions. You will deliver a differentiated client experience by offering tailored solutions focused on meeting the client’s business and financial goals to grow relationships, enhance loyalty and drive innovation with our clients. You will bring the best of RBC to businesses and their owners. You will also build trade capabilities of BFS and other colleagues through coaching, mentoring, or assisting with individual client scenarios. What will you do? Demonstrate client stewardship and care in every decision and activity Follow Practice Management playbooks for sales routines, market and portfolio planning, client interactions to succeed individually and as a team Develop effective strategies for consistently winning new clients and identifying new sales opportunities Lead the origination, structuring, negotiations, and execution of customized trade finance and working capital solutions for domestic and international commercial/corporate clients, ensuring compliance with regulatory and risk frameworks Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as trusted advisor by providing tailored advice and insights on trade and working capital finance solutions. Offer guidance aligned with clients’ needs, addressing new or emerging issues that may impact their business. Lead local Trade revenue growth initiatives by working closely with relationship teams and product partners, ensuring consistency across various commercial/corporate teams to deliver a high quality customer experience Promote awareness of Trade products, strategies and competitor information amongst the Relationship Managers and other strategic business communities to generate referrals Build, advance and actively replenish a pipeline of prospective clients and ensure the right mix of client/prospect contacts is achieved to meet sales and revenue goals. Exercise due diligence with all transactions: know your client, the transaction, credit structure, risk-analysis and client strategy Plan, prioritize client and market activities to win as One RBC. Seek referral opportunities for relationship team members or RBC partners What do you need to succeed? Must-have: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field 10+ years of experience in client facing roles preferably in commercial or corporate banking Minimum two years’ Commercial Credit Experience Business development experience with strong client relationship management skills Successful track record in independently managing a portfolio, evidenced by strong returns, no avoidable losses Strong financial analysis skills with an ability to analyze company financial statements Experience in working with trade finance products such as letters of credit, guarantees, documentary credits, as well as corporate lending products such as transactional loans, borrowing base structures and factoring. Effective communication and negotiation skills Bilingualism (English and French) required, as you will regularly serve our clients with English and French-speaking needs. Nice to have: Trade finance certification, CFA, CPA or other relevant professional designation What’s in it for you?
