This opportunity offers training, full time hours(shifts) and benefits. This is ideal for someone with a passion for troubleshooting, networking and Satellite communications. This position is located in downtown Ottawa.Typical DutiesLogging & processing of technical events and/or generation of incident reportsAssist clients with minor trouble shooting and modem configurationsProcessing Satellite Access Requests and validating & implementing Satellite Access AuthorizationsAnswering SOC Phone, E-Mail, and chat messagesCoordinate satellite access and de-access activities with DND Operational unitsProviding On-the-job training for new SOC OperatorsPerforming shift hand-over briefingsCollecting and processing post-mission informationProducing weekly/monthly reportsRemote Monitor and Control of Satellite Anchor StationsQualificationsRequires a two or three year College diploma as a Technologist and/or equivalent experience, specializing in electronics, telecommunicationsAbility to communicate effectively with customer at a variety of authoritative levelsAbility to troubleshoot, using initiative and judgement, applying knowledge gained from previous experiencePossesses the flexibility and the ability for quick and knowledgeable response to technical and customer service related issuesGood appreciation of the customer's facility, methods of operation and sensitivitiesKnowledge and skill in using computer desktop applications (i.e. Microsoft Office tools)Assets but not required:Previous Canadian Forces experience or working in a military environmentExperience with commercial and/or military SATCOM networksExperience with large terrestrial SATCOM terminalsIt is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed.
