Who you are: You encompass Oak Valley Health’s core values and live the words of respect, trust, commitment, compassion and courage You are a patient and/or client centered individual who performs at an exemplary standard You are a team player with excellent communication, critical thinking and prioritization skills Closing Date: August 13, 2025 What We Need: As a Unit Secretary in the clinic you will work with a pediatrician and Registered Nurse to deliver care to select pediatric patients with acute illness requiring consultation and follow up care and also work with an interprofessional team caring for pediatric patients with diabetes. The Unit Secretary is a valuable member of the team and has a significant impact on the efficient and effective operation of the clinics. The successful candidate will be responsible for both clerical and receptionist duties. Your duties will include: Scheduling clinic appointments for initial consultation and follow-up visits Complete tasks requested by doctor, clinic staff verbally and by email. Send registration requests by email. Greeting patients, answering and directing telephone calls to the appropriate personnel Follow-up of telephone reminder appointments to patients as required Ordering and maintaining office supplies Photocopying, faxing, filing compiling and/or photocopying reports to send to various outside agencies Performing special projects as assigned Monitor clinic Resources, close or open schedule based on Physician needs. What you bring to the role: Recent unit secretary experience in a clinic/outpatient environment Basic Meditech Booking experience; Sound knowledge of medical terminology Working knowledge of computer technology with proficient typing skills Experience with patient scheduling and registration modules is essential; experience with Meditech is preferred Strong customer service, interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills Ability to prioritize and manage multiple demands in a fast paced environment Strong critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills with a high attention to detail Excellent organizational skills Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with organization related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required Work Schedule: The successful candidates must be able to work 8 hour shifts Days (0800-1600 or 0830-1630, Monday to Friday.
