Your contribution!
Reporting to the Senior Director – Development, you will be responsible for leading renewable energy project development and acquisition activities primarily in Quebec, with a focus on wind and solar projects. The successful candidate will be involved in all stages of project development, from initiation to commissioning.
Your day-to-day!
Identify, initiate, and capitalize on new business opportunities (new projects and project acquisitions) and make recommendations that will enable senior management to make timely decisions regarding the pursuit of projects;
Collaborate with internal project specialists and supervise external consultants to support all aspects of project development, including land acquisition, resource analysis, environmental studies, electrical integration into the transmission grid, etc.;
Maintain and coordinate all development activities and required timelines;
Participate in the evaluation of regulatory, technical, and budgetary aspects of prospective projects;
Develop agreements and partnerships with Indigenous communities;
Develop agreements and partnerships with municipal and community authorities;
Actively participate in land negotiations with the aim of securing land rights for project development;
Lead and/or assist in the negotiation of commercial agreements with the aim of maximizing value creation;
Manage project expenditures and develop, manage, and maintain project budgets;
Report on project progress to management through written reports and participation in weekly management meetings and calls.
Your skills, our requirements!
Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, engineering, sustainable development, or equivalent;
Experience coordinating research and project development activities with cross-functional resources, peers, and external consultants to ensure that the project progresses on schedule;
Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar position;
Experience in partnership management and contract negotiation;
Experience coordinating research and project development activities with cross-functional resources, peers, and external consultants to ensure that the project progresses on schedule;
Previous success in managing development processes and procedures (land, environment, permitting, interconnection and transmission, finance, and outreach), development schedules, project development budgets, and stakeholders involved in the successful development of the project;
Proven expertise in the development of wind and/or solar projects;
Understanding of the origin and experience of the electricity supply proposal request process;
Knowledge and experience of key project contracts: power purchase agreements, generator interconnection agreements, turbine and equipment supply contracts, partnership and purchase and sale agreements, and operating and maintenance agreements;
Specific knowledge and experience in partnership management and contract negotiation;
Strong analytical and quantitative skills; expertise in project evaluation and financial analysis;
Effective communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) with an emphasis on interpersonal skills;
Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary project teams, establish good relationships, and work efficiently and courteously with partners and clients;
Strong time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and rapidly changing priorities.
Bilingualism (French and English, written and spoken) is required to ensure collaboration with different stakeholders outside of Québec on a regular basis;

The position is based in the company's Longueuil (Quebec) headquarters, steps away from the Longueuil-Université de Sherbrooke metro station.
This position is a P2 level.
