Compensation Details:
Partnerships 19: Salaries typically range from $109,810 - $158,750, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
Location:
This role will be performed from EDC’s Community Hub in Montreal.
Relocation assistance is available for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria.
Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week.

Team Overview:
The Partnerships Group is accountable for corporate & regional level relationship management, driving results through a win-win-win approach with domestic & international financial institutions (FI), private-equity firms, alternative lenders and other Private, Government and Association organizations. The team develops and executes corporate & regional level plans within each Partnership and Region Ecosystem and deploys channel tactics within key business units to grow and improve our collective support to Canadian Exporters.
The Regional Partnerships team, 1 of 3 functions within the Partnerships Group, is looking for our next Partnerships Director for Quebec & Atlantic Canada. You are responsible for EDC’s Partnerships Ecosystem and Plan for these two important markets. Given EDC is a financial crown corporation focused on the development and growth of international trade for Canada, your portfolio of partnerships will be a mix of Canadian financial institutions, other financial crown corporations, and key government departments (Federal & Provincial) focused on international trade, prioritized based on the Partner’s regional impact and alignment with EDC’s value proposition and Corporate Strategy. Recognized for your ability to build trusting long-term relationships and a deep network across the Partnerships ecosystem, and prioritize and influence key plan objectives, you’ll be a key player in EDC’s role to develop mutually important partnerships that enable better awareness, support and growth of international trade for Canadian companies within these two important Regions in Canada.
What you will be doing:
A senior level Partnership relationship management individual contributor role, reporting to the Director of the Regional Partnerships team
Responsible for building the Partnership plans for Quebec & Atlantic Canada in collaboration with your team members and each Region’s Business Development VP & Credit Director
Accountable to motivate, delegate and participate in the business results for each Partnership ecosystem through clear KPIs and objectives that ensure full market coverage integrating relevant sector and country opportunities of each unique Region.
Builds and maintains effective and sustainable long-term relationships with Region Head contacts within key Canadian FI, Crown Corporation, Government (Federal & provincial) and other relevant private or association organizations aligned to EDC’s mandate to grow exporters and international trade activity for Canada
Champions high-impact partnership initiatives from concept to adoption, inspiring cross-functional teams to deliver measurable results. This role demands a decisive changemaker that fosters alignment and turns strategy into action within the ecosystem
Serves as the Partnerships subject matter expert for each Region externally by representing EDC at different market events, key international trade conversations/platform and by collating and sharing key regional market intelligence from engagements and discussions within the Partnership network to feed EDC’s product and corporate strategy continuum
Closely collaborates with Region Heads or leads of key internal stakeholders from EDC’s customer BD, Product and Risk teams to ensure progress and focus, including issues and escalation management, on Partnership plan objectives
Represents and champions the needs of the Region from a Partnerships point of view in a balanced approach with internal stakeholders
Expectation of business travel to advance and support the partnerships ecosystem appropriately for Atlantic Canada
What we are looking for:
Undergraduate Degree in International Business, Commerce or other relevant discipline
Minimum of 10 years of business development or B2B partner relationship management
Minimum of 7 years of experience in international business management or commercial lending
Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)
An established network in the Quebec and Atlantic Canada Regions relevant to EDC’s mandate
Experience in leading regional-level initiatives in a matrixed environment with internal and external stakeholders
Demonstration of strong strategic mindset, influencing skills and relationship management
Strong understanding of EDC’s lines of business, value proposition and mandate
What will make you stand out:
Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) designation
Knowledge of financial institution credit and lending practices
Knowledge of international business practices and international trade
Business development experience to drive partnership deliverables
Experience in B2B partnership management including region-level negotiations, joint KPI or target setting and delivery
