How You’ll Make an Impact Report to the VP, Finance and Risk, Insurance. Provide leadership, innovation, and governance to identify, evaluate, and monitor strategic and operational risk. Develop and maintain Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Operational Risk Management (ORM) tools, policies, and practices to analyze, monitor, and report risks in line with the ERM and ORM programs. Periodically evaluate the ERM and ORM programs, ensuring they continue to meet regulatory requirements and comparing them to industry best practices. Ensure risk management policies and strategies comply with statutory requirements and regulatory guidance. Assist in overseeing capital management, including risk appetite statements, Own Risk and Solvency Assessments (ORSA), and other stress testing as required. Report on compliance initiatives to internal and external stakeholders. Attend and contribute to Enterprise Risk Management and Compliance Committees and facilitate Operational Risk Management Committees. Monitor key risk indicators and proactively advise of potential deterioration. Support business units in assessing, describing, and rating risks. Build strong relationships with auditors to validate processes and controls. Provide training, education, and tools to build risk awareness across the organization. Lead the regulatory risk and controls team, ensuring alignment with organizational culture and professional development for team members. What You Bring to the Table You have a university degree in a related discipline. You hold a relevant professional designation (e.g., CPA, FCIP). You bring a minimum of 10 years of risk management experience with progressive leadership roles in a regulated industry. You have at least 10 years in professional services or the financial industry, ideally in direct writer insurance. You’re seen as an expert in enterprise risk management. You understand legislative and regulatory requirements in the insurance sector. You excel at collaborating with stakeholders, analyzing business conditions, and translating them into risk and compliance considerations.
